YES & Employment Opportunities
I have received many requests for employment and work placements. I feel so frustrated in having to dash the hopes of these people. I have enough work for myself, Elizabeth and Jean. I teach as well, which certainly helps at times. There are so many projects waiting for the energy to happen. Many communities have need for environmental / community regeneration work. It is great to meet the people, to learn of their problems, to discover the social history of their problems. It is usually a long journey gaining approval, funding, and agreement from people and authorities who you might think would be on your side.
There might be the need / desire for a pond, some regeneration of waste land, some environmental reconstruction in your area. There is so much that could be done. So why not use our company structure to access funding for your own project ideas.
This bit is for all opportunists out there. YES is a not for profit company limited by guarantee. This allows us to raise grant aid to do projects. Should there be anyone aiming to do project work, but cannot because they are individuals and not a Company, then why not write to me with your project proposal. We could raise the funding through YES, for which YES would retain 20% to pay for the administration through the books at the end of the year ( and this has taken some time to do ), and you the opportunist would receive the remaining 80% towards materials, goods, labour and consultancy fees. Grant aid valued at £5,000 or less is often seen as so small an amount it can normally be processed within a couple of months, with a good project proposal.
If I can't give you a job, at least I could perhaps enable you to do a project. I can't do everything, I don't have the time. So rather than despair at the wealth of work still to be done, why not let YES help you to do it. You will have to be an opportunist, and be able to do the initial setting up work, but hey this is how I started.
